Andrew and Kate are getting ready for the Big Adventure!
We have been living in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina for 19 years, raised a family (another Big Adventure, but then that's another story...), and now are unemployed empty-nesters. While some folks would say, "Aw, that's too bad...", we look at it as a blessing: we have no foot-nailed-to-the-floor situation mandating that we stay in one place to meet the needs and demands of others; a way of Spirit saying, "Enjoy life without a mortgage." So we are downsizing and selling all our stuff: accumulation of 24 years of marriage, 3 kids, and ancestor worship (i.e., stuff from our parents' attics, etc.), as well as our home (a 1926 Craftsman beauty), and 95 beautiful acres of undeveloped mountain land in eastern TN.
So for the next year, we'll be sorting, sifting, holding a series of yard sales, and preparing our home for selling. We won't blog about THAT, but about our travels. We put our house on the market on April 1, 2011. Our land is already for sale.
We feel like teenagers with their first driver's license... but not gas money (YET)!
Once we hit the road, Kate will be logging in accounts of our travels and discoveries (internal or external). She feels like "Charlotte Kuralt". Stay tuned and Happy Trails!
